MacKenzie Weegar is a Canadian professional ice hockey defenceman currently playing for the Calgary Flames of the National Hockey League. Born on January 7, 1994, in Ottawa, Ontario, Weegar was selected in the seventh round, 206th overall, by the Florida Panthers in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft. After a strong junior career with the Halifax Mooseheads of the QMJHL, he steadily worked his way through the Panthers’ system, earning a full-time NHL role through persistence and consistent development. Known for his mobility, hockey IQ, and two-way reliability, Weegar emerged as a dependable presence on Florida’s blue line.
