Allyson Simpson -

Allyson “Ally” Simpson is an American professional ice hockey defenseman currently playing for the New York Sirens in the Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL). A product of elite development systems, Simpson spent five seasons at Shattuck-Saint Mary’s, where she helped lead the program to multiple national championships and established herself as a dependable two-way blueliner. She continued her rise at Colgate University, appearing in 174 NCAA games and recording 107 points from the back end. Her collegiate career included All-ECAC Third Team honors and multiple Defender of the Week selections, highlighting her offensive instincts and consistency.

Internationally, Simpson represented the United States at the IIHF U18 Women’s World Championships, winning gold medals in consecutive tournaments. Those experiences further cemented her reputation as a poised defender capable of performing on the biggest stages, combining strong skating, intelligent positioning, and calm puck movement.

Simpson entered the professional ranks after being selected 16th overall by the New York Sirens in the 2024 PWHL Draft. In her rookie season, she played in all 30 games, contributing five points and scoring her first professional goal while logging regular minutes on the blue line. Her strong debut season earned her a two-year contract extension, solidifying her role as a foundational piece of the Sirens’ defense and a rising talent in the PWHL.
