Emerance Maschmeyer -

Emerance Maschmeyer is a Canadian goaltender originally from Bruderheim, Alberta. She developed her game playing minor hockey — including time with a boys’ junior‑A team — before going on to star at the collegiate level with the Harvard Crimson. There she distinguished herself as a top netminder, finishing her NCAA career as Harvard’s all‑time leader in saves and earning multiple Ivy League and ECAC honors. Her strong fundamentals, technique, and competitive drive helped pave the way for a successful professional career in women’s hockey.

With the founding of the Professional Women's Hockey League (PWHL), Maschmeyer signed as a foundational goaltender with the Ottawa Charge. In the league’s inaugural season she led all goalies in appearances and recorded 548 saves. Over her PWHL tenure she surpassed 1,000 regular‑season saves — becoming the first goaltender in league history to reach that milestone. Ahead of the 2025–26 season she signed a two‑year contract with the expansion club Vancouver Goldeneyes, positioning her as a key veteran presence in net for the team’s launch.

Internationally, Maschmeyer has been a mainstay for Team Canada. She won a gold medal at the 2022 Winter Olympics while posting a shutout in the quarterfinals, and she has earned multiple medals at the IIHF Women’s World Championships — including a world‑title gold. Her performance at the U18 level also includes a gold medal earned in the 2012 IIHF U18 Women’s World Championship, where she recorded a shutout in the gold‑medal game. Maschmeyer’s skill, composure under pressure, and long-term consistency make her one of the top goaltenders in women’s hockey today.
