Erin Ambrose has established herself as one of the premier two-way defencemen in women’s hockey, combining elite offensive instincts, defensive reliability and exceptional hockey intelligence. Born April 30, 1994, and raised in Keswick, Ontario, Ambrose developed into a standout player at Clarkson University, where she helped lead the Golden Knights to the 2014 NCAA National Championship. During her sophomore season, she led all NCAA Division I defencemen in scoring with 50 points, earning First Team All-American honours and recognition as one of the top players in collegiate hockey.

Ambrose has since become a cornerstone of Canada’s National Women’s Team and one of the country's most accomplished international defencemen. A two-time Olympic medallist, she captured gold with Team Canada at Beijing 2022 and silver at Milano Cortina 2026. At the 2022 Olympics, Ambrose scored four goals—the most by any defenceman in the tournament—and finished with nine points, ranking second among all blueliners. Her international résumé also includes seven IIHF Women’s World Championship medals, highlighted by three gold medals in 2021, 2022 and 2024, along with three silver medals and a bronze.

At the professional level, Ambrose has been recognized as one of the game's elite defenders. Following an accomplished career with the Toronto Furies and Les Canadiennes de Montréal, where she was named CWHL Defenceman of the Year in 2018–19, she was selected sixth overall by Montréal in the inaugural 2023 PWHL Draft. Ambrose immediately made history by becoming the first-ever recipient of the PWHL Defender of the Year Award and earning a First-Team All-Star selection in the league's inaugural season. She has continued to play a key role with the Montréal Victoire, including helping the organization capture the 2026 Walter Cup championship, further cementing her reputation as one of the most complete and accomplished defencemen of her generation.
